I am smitten with this cushion. This was one of those pieces that starts with a certain intent and then takes on a life of its own. It took me by the hand and led me down its own path. And I’m so very happy with where we ended up.
The face of the cushion is hooked in a primitive style with wool strips of recycled clothing—old woolen pants and skirts that I scour flea markets and thrift stores for. The back is a remnant of quilted upholstery in shades of wheat and straw, sunshine and barley. I made the golden tassels with handspun wool and silk yarns dyed with onion skins. Those yarns were a great find for me at a county fair. The stuffing is a soft blend of polyfil and recycled wool. The petite proportions of this pillow make a stately statement, as the cow serenely oversees the goings on of your farmhouse, cottage, or gentleman’s farm.
