A portion of the second floor of my 111 year old home is home to my studio. The walls of my studio are lined with “drying” paintings. My colors have always been bright and the more I painted the the more impasto texture I added. All my paintings are original Oil on Canvas Impasto technique. A palette knife is used to create the depth. Impasto is a term used to describe thickly layered paint that is three-dimensional in appearance. You could almost say impasto is sculpture on a canvas. The painting begins with a light charcoal sketch. Long ribbons of paint are placed on the palette. A palette knife is used much like icing a cupcake. After the canvas is covered with layers of pure oil paint dry time is 3 months minimum.
