Petri dishes 1 is a new twist on my microbiology theme. Brightly-colored bacteria and other microorganisms bloom in their laboratory habitat – petri dishes. The contents of each dish are individually painted in watercolors, using a wet-in-wet technique. Then they are cut out and placed in their petri dishes (also hand-painted) and mounted on arches watercolor paper.
A sweet ceramic dish that I created on the wheel and altered off-wheel in a shape inspired by the sakura flower. Made as a catch-all for jewelry, keys, coins, etc. I’m extremely excited about these dishes because they’re the first of a new direction of pottery I’m taking.
